Your journey to better sleep starts with the right answers.
EASE Information
EASE is a premium 20-pound deep pressure weighted blanket designed to calm your nervous system, reduce anxiety, and help you sleep through the night. It uses clinically studied deep pressure stimulation technology to activate your parasympathetic nervous system — the rest-and-digest system — helping you fall asleep faster, sleep deeper, and wake up genuinely rested.
EASE represents what the blanket does for your body and mind. To ease means to release — to let go of the tension, the anxiety, the racing thoughts that keep you awake. It is the feeling of finally exhaling after holding your breath for too long. EASE is a promise: that rest is within reach.
EASE is designed for adults who struggle with anxiety-driven sleep issues, overthinking at night, burnout, or simply waking up exhausted despite spending enough time in bed. If you have tried melatonin, sleep apps, supplements, or prescription medication without consistent results, EASE was designed specifically for you.
EASE is not classified as a medical device. It is a therapeutic lifestyle product based on clinically studied deep pressure stimulation technology, which has been used in occupational therapy for over 30 years. If you have a medical condition affecting breathing or circulation, we recommend consulting your GP before use.
Most weighted blankets are filled with glass beads or pellets that shift during sleep, trap heat, and distribute weight unevenly. EASE uses a premium chunky knit construction — no beads, no fillers. The weight is the knit itself, distributed evenly across the entire surface. This creates consistent, breathable, uniform deep pressure throughout the night.
20 pounds — or approximately 9kg — is the weight supported by deep pressure stimulation research as optimal for most adults. The general guideline from occupational therapy is 10% of your body weight, making 20 pounds appropriate for adults weighing between 60kg and 100kg.
The Science
Deep pressure stimulation (DPS) is a therapeutic technique that applies gentle, sustained pressure to the body. This pressure activates mechanoreceptors in the skin — specialised nerve endings that send signals to the hypothalamus, triggering reduced cortisol production, increased serotonin levels, improved heart rate variability, and activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. DPS has been used in occupational therapy for over 30 years.
When you lie under the EASE blanket, the 20 pounds of evenly distributed weight activates your body's deep pressure receptors. These receptors signal your hypothalamus to reduce cortisol and increase serotonin production. Your heart rate slows, your breathing deepens, and your nervous system shifts from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) to parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) activation — before your conscious mind has time to interfere.
Nocturnal hyperarousal is the state in which your sympathetic nervous system remains partially activated during sleep, preventing entry into deep restorative sleep stages. It is the primary mechanism by which anxiety destroys sleep quality. You may sleep for eight hours but wake up exhausted because your nervous system never fully switched off. Deep pressure stimulation directly addresses this.
Deep pressure stimulation is one of the most studied non-pharmacological interventions in sleep and anxiety research. Key findings include: 94% of users fell asleep faster within the first week; 89% experienced measurable reduction in daily anxiety after two weeks; 87% reported waking up genuinely rested for the first time in years; 82% noticed significant improvement in overall stress regulation.
Yes. Deep pressure stimulation is an established technique in occupational therapy, endorsed by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and widely used in clinical settings. The EASE advisory board includes sleep neuroscientists, clinical psychologists, sleep medicine physicians, occupational therapists, and sports physiologists.
Deep pressure stimulation reduces cortisol through mechanoreceptor activation in the skin. Simultaneously, it stimulates serotonin production through the same neurological pathway. Serotonin is the direct precursor to melatonin — your natural sleep hormone — meaning EASE supports your body's own sleep chemistry rather than bypassing it with synthetic supplements.
Using EASE
Simply place the EASE blanket over yourself when you get into bed, covering your body from feet to shoulders. Ensure the weight is evenly distributed across your body. The deep pressure effect begins within minutes. There is no technique, no protocol, and no preparation required. The blanket does the work for you.
Most customers notice something different from the very first night. Significant improvements in overall sleep quality and daytime anxiety are typically reported within 7 to 14 days of consistent use. The most pronounced changes are generally reported after 3 to 4 weeks.
For best results, yes. Deep pressure stimulation works most effectively with consistent nightly use. The cumulative effect builds over time. That said, many customers notice benefit from the very first use, and occasional use still provides meaningful relief.
Yes. The open chunky knit weave allows air to circulate freely throughout the night, making EASE significantly more breathable than traditional weighted blankets filled with beads or pellets. We recommend EASE to warm sleepers and have received consistent positive feedback from customers who previously found weighted blankets too warm.
Absolutely. EASE works wherever you need it. Many customers use it while watching television, reading, or resting on a sofa. The deep pressure stimulation benefits apply in any position, not exclusively during sleep.
Yes. EASE is specifically designed to address anxiety-driven sleep issues. However, EASE is not a medical treatment and should not replace professional mental health support. We recommend using EASE alongside, not instead of, appropriate professional care.
EASE is designed and sized for adults. The 20-pound weight is appropriate for most adults but may be too heavy for children. If you are considering a weighted blanket for a child, we recommend consulting a GP or occupational therapist for appropriate weight guidance.
If you are pregnant, please consult your midwife or GP before using EASE or any weighted blanket. The additional weight may not be appropriate during certain stages of pregnancy.
Product Details
EASE is currently available in six colours: Lavender, Navy Blue, Watermelon Red, Beige, Light Grey, and Charcoal Grey. All colours are crafted from the same premium chunky knit material and deliver identical therapeutic benefit.
The EASE blanket measures 122cm x 183cm (48 inches x 72 inches). This size is designed to cover an adult body from feet to shoulders when lying down, and drapes naturally over a single or double bed.
The EASE blanket is crafted from premium chunky knit cotton. There are no glass beads, no plastic pellets, no synthetic fillers. The weight comes entirely from the knit construction itself — thick cotton ropes woven in a dense, even pattern that distributes pressure uniformly across the entire blanket.
EASE is made from cotton with no synthetic fillers or chemical treatments. It is generally suitable for people with common allergies. If you have specific fibre sensitivities, please contact our team at contact@ease-sleep.co.uk before purchasing.
The EASE blanket is built for long-term use. The chunky knit construction is durable and maintains its structure and weight distribution over years of nightly use. With proper care, your EASE blanket should last for many years.
No. Unlike supplements or medications that may lose potency, the deep pressure stimulation effect of EASE is purely physical and does not diminish with time. The therapeutic benefit comes from the weight and distribution of the knit, which remains consistent throughout the life of the blanket.
Care & Maintenance
Machine wash on a gentle cold cycle in a large capacity washing machine — minimum 8kg drum capacity. Use a mild, gentle detergent. Avoid fabric softener, bleach, or dry cleaning. Do not iron. Air dry flat on a clean surface, or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting.
The EASE blanket weighs 20 pounds / 9kg. A standard 6-7kg washing machine will not have sufficient capacity to wash it safely and may be damaged by the weight. We recommend a drum capacity of at least 8kg, or washing at a laundrette with large capacity machines.
We recommend washing every 2-4 weeks with regular nightly use, or as needed. Using a duvet cover or light sheet between yourself and the blanket can extend the time between washes.
Yes, on the lowest heat setting only. Air drying flat is preferred to preserve the structure of the knit. Avoid high heat settings as they may cause shrinkage or damage to the cotton fibres.
